ThinkGeek Announces the iCade 8-Bitty

While I never had a chance to try ThinkGeek's popular cabinet-style controller for iOS devices, the iCade, the product went on to be extremely popular. Now the creators behind the lucrative device have announced a new controller, this time a Bluetooth game pad called the 8-Bitty. Yes, it looks almost identical to the original Nintendo Entertainment System controller, albeit having four face buttons instead of two.

I feel that this product could be exactly what iOS and Android users have been waiting for. Many games on both platforms use virtual buttons (i.e. action buttons mapped to the device's screen), which never work as well as they should. With the 8-Bitty, users could play said games with greater ease and the device could attract others would would normally steer clear of these titles.

The 8-Bitty controller will be priced at $24.99 and will be sold at ThinkGeek's website. No release date has been given, but is said to release later this year.
